You’re not interested in an average experience — and neither are we.

Designed to immerse you in beauty, Stoney Bottom is an idyllic private estate just two hours north of San Francisco in the heart of the Anderson Valley wine region. Featuring acres of botanical gardens, award-winning onsite accommodations, and spaces to hold enchanted weddings, it’s the perfect place to make memories with those you love most.

Our 6 acre garden was designed and hand-built over the course of 20 years by the former director of the San Francisco Botanical gardens, offering you the chance to roam and explore at your own pace – perhaps with a glass of wine in hand. Tasteful interiors mean you won’t spend your vacation imagining how you’d redecorate. Nestled in nature but mere minutes from over 25 tasting rooms, restaurants, and shopping in downtown Boonville – it doesn’t get better than this.

Stoney Bottom was born out of a passion for creating experiences that make you feel warm inside.

We lived the Bay Area commuter lifestyle for years, always fantasizing about leaving city life. It took living through a pandemic and a lot of adventurous spirit to make it happen. We found Stoney Bottom in 2021, and it’s been the perfect use for our backgrounds in events, hospitality, and design.

Stoney Bottom is a family business and our labor of love. We are Casandra, Kaitlin, Max, and Georgia, and we can’t wait to share this place with you.

The gardens

Stoney Bottom’s 6 acre garden was originally designed and hand-built by the former director of the San Francisco Botanical Gardens as his retirement project. Our organic gardens are tended with love and care, and they lead to one another through a series of interconnecting pathways, creating the experience that you’re wandering through a secret world built just for you.

Bringing a massive amount of biodiversity to the area, the gardens are a mix of rare and native plants. The main garden areas to explore are the large main lawn, secluded meadow, towering bamboo grove, cherry blossom garden, buckeye garden, fields of daffodils, 17 raised beds of vegetables and cutting flowers, and other spaces you have to see to believe.

Sustainability. We’re solar-powered, avoid single-use plastics, and offer toiletries primarily composed of plant-based ingredients. We leverage the greywater from washing linens to water the lawns. We reject harsh pesticides in our gardens. We use primarily organic, local ingredients in the meals served onsite.

Supporting our community. If we can’t grow it ourselves, we source ingredients from neighboring farms, wineries, cheesemakers, and co-ops. Our favorites are:

“I’ve stayed at Stoney Bottom on several occasions and the location couldn’t be better for exploring Boonville, Philo and the surrounding areas. Aside from the obvious beauty of the property, the hosts go above and beyond to care for their guests. I can’t wait to return!”

Perfection! The house was clean and beautifully decorated. The grounds were peaceful and well-maintained.

Can’t say enough good things! We will be back!

We rented both cottages for a girls weekend. I cannot recommend Stoney Bottom enough. The spaces are cozy, beautiful and all the little details have been considered. Top notch hospitality across the board.

“We visited with two young children who loved all the space for running around, playing, and exploring. Stoney Bottom is conveniently located in Boonville and we took trips to nearby wineries, Hendy Woods, and the coast. We had a great visit. Highly recommend!
